Free from Curb’s / Property prep

Your property right now.

Short-notice prep: the hour of work this week that saves a repair later. We only put something here when there is a real reason to, and we say where the reason came from.

Written for Greencastle, Waynesboro, Chambersburg and the ground within 15 miles of us.

Nothing urgent on your property right now.

We put something on this page when there is a specific, sourced reason to: weather that is actually coming, a window that is actually closing. There is nothing like that today, and we are not going to invent one to keep the page busy.

What is worth doing this time of year does not change much, and it is here:

  • Clear the gutters before the leaves finish dropping, then again after

One clearing in October is usually one too early: the oaks around here hold on into November. Water that overflows a blocked gutter lands at the foundation, which is where most wet-basement problems actually start.

  • Mark your drive edges before the first snow

Stakes along the edge of a gravel or unkerbed drive, put in while you can still see it, are what keeps a plough on the drive and out of the lawn. Twenty minutes in November saves a repair in April.

  • Fall, not spring, is when seed takes here

Cool nights, warm soil and less weed pressure make late summer into early fall the strongest window for seeding a cool-season lawn in this part of Pennsylvania. Spring seeding competes with crabgrass and then walks straight into a dry July.

Or hand it over

Too much for a weekend?
Your property. Handled.

Everything on these pages stays free whether you hire us or not. But if the ground turns out to need a machine, or the weekend turns out to need a crew, that is the work we do.
