Getting the ground right first

Drainage and storm water, land and brush clearing, and grading and site preparation. Quoted per job, because no two sites drain the same way.

What this covers

Land + Site is the work underneath everything else: clearing what is in the way, getting water to go where it should, and shaping the ground so the next thing (a lawn, a patio, a planting) has something sound to sit on.

Water is the one that causes the expensive problems. A wet basement, a lawn that will not drain, a driveway that ices in the same spot every winter, these are almost always a grading or a drainage question rather than the thing they look like. Fixing the symptom without fixing where the water goes is how the same problem comes back the following spring.

Clearing is usually the first conversation on an overgrown lot or a corner of a property that has been let go: brush, overgrowth and what has taken root where it should not have. Grading and site preparation follow, the ground set to the right fall before anything is built on it.

This is the part of Curb's we are growing. Bigger excavation work is where we are headed rather than something we take on today, and we will say so plainly if your job is past what we do.

Every job here is priced individually after we have looked at the site. What the ground is made of and where the water currently goes matter more to the cost than the size of the area does.

Questions

Land + Site, answered

My basement gets wet. Is that something you handle?
Often, yes, a wet basement is frequently a grading and surface water problem before it is a foundation problem, and that half is our work. We will look at where water arrives and where it currently has to go. If what you actually need is a waterproofing contractor, we will tell you that instead of selling you a trench.
Do you clear overgrown land and brush?
Yes. Land and brush clearing is part of Land + Site. Tell us what is there and roughly how much, and we will look at it and quote it.
Do you do excavation?
Not larger excavation, yet, it is where this side of Curb's is headed. Drainage, clearing, grading and site preparation are what we take on today. If your job needs more than that we will tell you straight away.
How is this work priced?
Per job, after a look at the site. Ground conditions and access move the number further than square footage does, so a price quoted without seeing it would be a guess dressed up as a quote.
